Indenture

This indenture, made between the noble men Sir Vitus Polonius, Baron, on the one hand, and Edricus Filius Offaeus Esquire on the other hand, bears witness that the aforesaid Edricus is to take service in the Company of the aforesaid Sir Vitus, along with such Men at arms as Edricus may provide, for one year following the date of this document, to go with the said Sir Vitus wherever he wishes to make war or pursue tournaments within the Kingdom of Drachenwald, to a limit of no more than x Days in the year, receiving from the said Sir Vitus the customary wages, which is to say for himself j.s vi.d, and for each Man at Arms vi. d. per day, and for the aforesaid Esquire Edricus support at court and in Council, and defense against all unjust harm, and shall provide each fighting day a proper breakfast, 0b lb Beef, or of Pork xij oz and j loaf of white bread or of brown ij loaves and of ale ij pints or of any portion the equivialent as ajudged by the kings assayers

And in addition to the aforesaid, Sir Vitus promises that he shall provide training to Edricus as necessary and that said Edricus may bear at all times the Badge of the Aforesaid Sir Vitus, that is to say, a Rogazcina double crossed fess wise and forked at base Argent. Further shall the aforesaid Edricus conduct himself within the laws of chivalry, provide proper equipage for himself and such men at arms as he brings, including Arms and Horses, and shall defend Sir Vitus against all unjust harm. And concerning the prisoners which may be taken by the aforesaid Edricus, or by his men, the aforesaid Sir Vitus shall have half the profits of their ransom, etc. In testimony whereof, etc. Written at Raglan, the xxi  of Augst, the year of Gerhardt II
