This was the text used in court for the invocation of my Vigil in Nov 2009. I was attempting a mostly late 14th C style, and robbed bits of text from the Book of London English, (Henry V's correspondance with the Mayor & Aldermen of London) and Adams & Stephens
Their majesties Call their Counsellors Pelican.
Worshipfull Peers of the Pelican Order, Whereas it is decreed in Kingdom Law and Ancient Custom both that the Ordo Pelicanum serve the Crown and Kingdom with the whole of their cunning, wit and power, and being bound therefore to counsel the Crown to increase the ranks of the Said Ordo Pelicanum whenever it be fitting for to do so, for the betterment of the Realm’s weal, We, Having heard your counsel, and finding it in agreement with our Royal desires, therefore, to the profit of our realm, intending to provide convenient remedy in this matter, by advice of our Pelican order, prelates, counts and other subjects of our realm who are of our council, are minded to Invite into the Ordo Pelicanum a New Peer.

Lord Robert, We greet you well and thank you with all our heart for the good will and service that we have always found in you hithertoward. in Recognition whereof we are minded to offer you elevation to a new Estate. Consider that as our peers pelicanate are a bolster to the wellbeing of our realm, so do the cares and troubles of the kingdom bear heavily upon our said Pelican peers. Much is offered you but yet more may be asked on account thereof, by Ourselves, our peers our officers and especially our subjects. Therefore let peerage not be entered into intemperately or precipitously, but in sober measure after solemn contemplation, resolved to its duties and cognizant of its burdens.
We charge you take counsel of your concience, of Our Peers, and of our courtiers, And pray you inform us as to your choice in this matter, that we may instruct our heralds accordingly.
